FAQs

Can I pick-up food for someone else?

Yes, please click here for more information about how you can pick-up food for other families.

What if I don’t have a car?

For the safety of those at the event, walk-ups are not permitted at drive-up distributions. If you do not have a vehicle, you may have another individual drive you to pick up food or you can attend one of our walk-in distributions.

Who qualifies for assistance?

Anyone can receive food at distributions. All Guests are encouraged to complete a TEFAP self-declaration once per year. Your information will only be used to provide you food and help us improve your service (TEFAP form). While completing a self-declaration is not required, some of the food items at distribution events require guests to have filled out the self-declaration.

What happens if a distribution is cancelled?

To check if a distribution has been cancelled due to inclement weather, call us at 412-460-3663 x655 or check our Facebook page. You can view our Winter Weather Policy!

What do I bring?

If you are attending a drive-up distribution, put bags and boxes in your trunk. Volunteers will put your food in them. For walk-in events, in addition to bags and boxes, a rolling cart is helpful if you have one, as you will receive 30 to 50 pounds of food. Volunteers and carts will be available at walk-ins to help collect and carry food for any client who needs assistance.

How do I register?

You DO NOT need to bring any proof of income, documentation or identification to receive food. No one will have to make a reservation prior to coming to the distribution; guests will be served on a first come first serve basis. You will complete a short registration process onsite with the help of Food Bank staff and volunteers. You can also register onsite at distributions to serve as a proxy to pick up food for a neighbor, family member, or friend.

Each household will be encouraged to complete an annual TEFAP self-declaration of need form to receive food. After completing the form and inputting the information, our staff will issue you a passcard at the next distribution you attend. Guests will be asked to then bring their card back to each event they attend so our staff can accurately record visits and plan distributions.
