The Montour Classroom Cupboard is a food pantry located at Montour High School and is available to all students from K-12 enrolled in the Montour school district. The Montour Classroom Cupboard, which opened in April 2019, is the first district-wide food pantry in Western Pennsylvania.
The Classroom Cupboard currently has been able to reach 125 students. High school students from the Outreach Club and the Random Acts of Kindness Club manage the Classroom Cupboard responsibilities, which include assisting with order placement, filling orders and stocking shelves.
Students or parents place their orders confidentially and members of the Outreach Club and the Random Acts of Kindness Club fill the orders. Breakfast options include items such as pancake mix, syrup, oatmeal, a variety of cereals, shelf-stable milk, protein bars, fruit and juices. Lunch and dinner options vary but typically include items like pasta, tuna, soups, rice, beans, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly.
