How do I apply?
Applications for 2023 are now closed. Check back in the fall for the opening of the 2024 application!
How does it work?
Partners are evaluated on their child nutrition programs including: school breakfast, summer food, afterschool meals, weekend meals, school pantries, and other child food security efforts.
Who is eligible?
Public and private school districts and community Sponsors of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and/or Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Somerset and Washington Counties.
What are the award levels?
Child Hunger Hero award levels are gold, silver and bronze. Levels are awarded based on the school or community partner’s level of participation across both federal and private child nutrition programs. All award levels provide exceptional service to kids.
