How Your Company Can Create a Hunger-free PA

Posted on May 5, 2022 by Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank

Our goal is to provide exceptional experiences for your group so that we can sustain valuable partnerships that support our mission, and you can provide meaningful experiences for your team. Volunteering with your employees can help boost morale and improve employee retention through teambuilding and leadership development opportunities.

Want to work directly on site with our team?

Join us in our Volunteer Engagement Center packing boxes of shelf stable items or sorting through donations that will go directly into the hands of those facing food insecurity. We’d love for you to join us for a tour of our updated facility, built as the first LEED Certified Food Bank in the nation! We also have opportunities to provide food directly through our various distributions.

Want to support our mission to alleviate hunger in our region but can’t make it out of the office?

There are still many ways to volunteer and donate. Through sponsoring one of our signature events, such as Empty Bowls or Holiday Market, you can expand your brand, gain visibility, and provide meals to families in need. Your organization and employees are also encouraged to host their own Food and Fund Drives. These can be done either in person or as a virtual option for those still working remotely.

Cause marketing campaigns that donate a portion of profits made to Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank allows us to work in ways that Food Drives may not. Monetary donations such as these allow us to purchase food in large quantities directly from manufacturers and quickly re-distribute to those in need. They also allow us to source the specific items we need in order to fill any gaps in our supply, including fresh produce and dairy. Every $1 raised helps the Food Bank provide up to five nutritious meals for families and individuals in our community!

Does your company participate in Workplace Giving Campaigns with direct payroll deductions?

Employees can direct United Way contributions or payroll deductions through organizations like Benevity to support the Food Bank. We’re happy to help you get this process started.

To schedule your next volunteer opportunity, start an employee giving campaign, or learn about sponsorship opportunities, please email Jennifer Zgurich at [email protected]. Contact [email protected] or call 412-745-FUND (3863) to start your own cause marketing campaign.
