PITTSBURGH, PA (May 31, 2022) According to a new report by the Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania, the Pittsburgh metro area only has 48 available and affordable rental units available for every 100 households who rent. The shortage of affordable housing greatly increases the risk of food insecurity for families in our region. Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank’s call center continues to receive calls for food assistance as a ripple effect of increased housing costs.
