Our neighbors and communities flourish when every senior, child and family has enough food to thrive. While the Food Bank is profoundly disappointed in the passage of a bill that threatens the health of our most vulnerable residents, our mission remains unchanged. In the days and weeks to come, we’ll be working with our partners on a state and national level to better understand the full implications of the bill and preparing for increases in demand throughout our network as the policy changes are instituted. As we always have, we will stand alongside the community to ensure that our neighbors have the food they need to lead healthy, fulfilling lives. We urge neighbors in need of assistance to visit pittsburghfoodbank.org/gethelp to find a program that fits their needs. Community members interested in providing support are asked to consider becoming a monthly donor or getting involved in our mission as a volunteer.
We already give monthly and I volunteer at the market (health permitting). Do you have a sample letter for us to send to our Congressmen(not that they are listening). I have written in general but would be happy to write specifically to this issue. Are you recommending any other support actions?

Stop the nonsense. People helping people is what we should all be about. No one in this country should be food insecure. Congress, get it together.
