This year marked the 19th year Nevillewood Neighbors’ children helped Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank feed seniors, children and families facing hunger in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Members of the Nevillewood Community have selflessly contributed to the Food Bank consistently through their annual fundraiser, and in times of emergency, like through their COVID Response Fundraiser, which provided more than 100,000 meals alone. One of their most special fundraisers is actually executed by the children of the community during Halloween.
The Nevillewood Halloween fundraiser involves a kickoff event at the Nevillewood Clubhouse the week before Halloween where kids can decorate their collection bags and celebrate the impact they’ve made over the years. A few days later on Halloween, the children volunteer by going door to door, trick-or-treating and collecting donations from the community. As this is the 19th year doing this fundraiser, community members know to expect to have their checks ready, but in case they forget, Caroline Armfield and Matt Swider spearhead the efforts in sharing fliers with everyone in the community.
We are so grateful to Matt and Caroline for their selfless efforts to coordinate this fundraiser year over year, and for the entire Nevillewood Community for their generosity in making the fundraiser such a success. Because of their volunteer support every Halloween, the Food Bank has been able to provide thousands of meals to the people we serve.

Sincerely,
The Community Fundraising Team
