Crush the Commonwealth to Crush Hunger
April 27, 2018 @ 4:00 am - April 28, 2018 @ 1:00 pm
Every year, Crush the Commonwealth, an underground organized cycling race spanning the 380 miles between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, tests the wills of 30-40 of the most hardcore long-distance riders (a category Erik Thogerson, Jeremiah Sullivan, and Dan Ross don’t quite fit). The race is held on the last weekend of April which can have unpredictable temperatures, strong winds, and sudden downpours. Many athletes find a hotel halfway and sleep at least a few hours, but this Trio plans to ride the 30+ hours without this luxury.
So, why would three casual cyclists subject themselves to such punishment? They decided that if they’re going to commit to ‘crushing’ 380 grueling miles in the saddle, then they need to try and crush something that really matters.
