“Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation’s compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain loving one another.”
~Erma Bombeck
Every weekday (and Saturdays too!), volunteers walk through our doors (or sites throughout our service area) with the commitment to make a difference and help their neighbors in need. In fact, more than 5,000 volunteers joined us last year and offered 61,000 hours of their time.
They are “Food Bankers.” They selflessly sort frozen meat, check the dates on innumerable cans, repack unconventionally shaped carrots to help us get food to area families in need. They wake up early Saturday mornings to distribute produce outdoors and they do it all with a smile on their face. They spread the word, and recruit new members into our Food Bank family. They work tirelessly to coordinate group activities and make sure everyone’s wearing closed toed shoes.
On June 29, we will be celebrating the amazing humans that join us at an annual Volunteer Appreciation Party. AND as an extra special treat for our volunteers, there will be a selfie booth provided by DigiBooths. We can’t wait to see all the fun pics! Maybe we will even share a few!
