Gleaning & Farm Donations


Farmers often find themselves with surplus or unmarketable produce. Food Bank staff recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers who glean, or harvest, that surplus produce. Gleaning volunteers get a chance to experience working farms in southwestern PA, while partnering with farmers to help feed hungry people. Gleaned produce is taken back to the Food Bank and distributed to member agencies. We also pick up produce directly from farmers.

Meet our partner farms!

Farmers' Market Connection Program

The Food Bank pairs local food assistance providers with farmers' markets. At the end of the market day, farmers can donate their unsold produce directly to an agency that will then distribute it to the hungry.
