Farmers Market Buys Help the Needy through Harvest for the Hungry
PITTSBURGH (September 18)—In conjunction with both Hunger Action Month and Local Food Month, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is partnering with the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA), the Pittsburgh Food Policy Council and local farmers through Harvest for the Hungry to provide fresh, healthy food for those in need throughout the region.
Shoppers are encouraged to visit select Farmers Markets and simply fill and purchase an extra bag of fresh produce from one of six onsite vendors, and then take it to the designated donation area. Those participating will receive a free Food Bank canvas tote bag as a token of appreciation for their generosity.
This month there are five Harvest for the Hungry locations and donations will accepted from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.:
